Fine Print

…it's a good idea to read it!

The Last Supper

Could there be a finer place to be sitting than at a cosy, eclectically decorated Malaysian Restaurant surrounded by familiar friendly faces? Of course there is! But matching the enjoyment we get out of Toastmasters for a little over three dollars per meeting…………? Now THAT'S a challenge!

Now is the time to let out a sigh of reflection. I feel a poem coming on.

A sigh that says…

"I spoke publicly and did not die."
A sigh that says, "A year's gone by!"

"I've learnt a lot and met new friends
I can't believe it's nearly the end!

I did my best with the time that I had
And most of my speeches weren't really that bad!

The holidays are nigh and enjoy them I will
But next year I'll be back and then get my fill

My goals will be new, my heart will be free
And self-expressed is what I will be!"

In the words of Darcy our President, "It's been a hard year, it's been a good couple of years." I couldn't have put it better myself. Looking back over the year I can't help but smile, especially when thinking about Glen the political Hic complete with his ability to speak fluent Hickish and grow enormous vegetables! YEEEEE HAAAAAAAARRRR!

Off that subject! It's dinner time. For starters, a warm welcome to our newest member Graham. Graham has been an inspiration to us all. He presented us with a fine ice breaker speech, and the enthusiasm he has brought along with him and shared with us is fantastic! Thanks Graham! And thank you to Russel for the kind offer to be Grahams' mentor. I am sure you will both learn valuable things from the experience.

All in all it has been a blast. I look forward to seeing you all next year. Have a wonderful Christmas. I hope good time are shared with your friends and family, over a delicious mouth-watering meal like the one we are soon to devour. Mmm mmmmm! Thank you all for coming! Enjoy the holidays!!

But before I forget…..

How could we forget our good ol' friend Tertius the Travelling Toastmaster? A message from him:

They say the human brain starts working the moment you are born
and never stops working until you have to stand up and speak in public.

Isn't that the truth!!!
